For MY 2009/10, China¡¯s raisin production is estimated at 155,000 metric tons (MT) because of favorable weather and expanded acreage.  China¡¯s raisin imports and exports are forecast at 13,000 MT and 35,000 MT, a 13 and 20 percent increase from last year.

Marketing year (MY) 2010 fresh asparagus production is forecast at 200,000 metric tons (MT), a 20 percent drop from last year on significant acreage decline.  Farmers are expected to shift production to other crops because of continued low prices.  However, MY 2010 canned/jarred and frozen asparagus exports are projected to rise to 84,000 MT and 33,000 MT due to strong demand from Europe, Japan, and South Korea.

For MY 2009, canned peach and pear production are forecast at 335,000 and 76,500 MT, down 10 percent and 7 percent from the previous year due to large carry over stocks and weak global demand.  Domestic consumption of canned yellow peaches is expected to grow, while other canned fruit are forecast to remain stable.  Overall, exports of canned peaches are to remain steady, while imports are unchanged.
