The 5th Wood South China trade show was held on December 8-10 in Guangzhou.  The show is a medium-scale specialty show with more than 200 exhibitors from all over China producing wood flooring, doors, fiberboard, OSB, plywood, wood treatment, finish, and machinery.   Most of the exhibitors were domestic companies with the exception of six foreign companies, including one U.S. log exporter.  ATO Guangzhou staff visited the show to gather current market information and to brief the U.S. exporter on the South China wood market situation.  The show organizer approached ATO Guangzhou to express interest in any cooperative opportunities that might exist in the coming years.  If the show's focus was broadened to attract more overseas exhibitors, imported wood materials, and treated wood products, it could be a good platform for U.S. wood exporters to develop business relationships in China.  ATO Guangzhou will further consider the effectiveness of the show and continue to identify wood export opportunities in South China.
