Reverse Buyer Mission for Tree Nuts

Reverse Buyer Mission for Tree Nuts

ATO Shanghai led a group of dried fruit and tree nut buyer s on a trade mission to Texas, Georgia, and California.  Seven buyers in the group are nut roasters, processors, and distributors of bakery ingredients from East China region interested in pecans, almonds, walnuts and pistachios.  Approximately 70 percent of the orders buyers placed during the mission was for the new crops to harvest in fall.  ATO¡¯s nut buyer mission program received strong support from the Texas Department of Agriculture (STEP grant program), Georgia Pecan Growers Association, and Californian Department of Food and Agriculture (via CITD), which has gained great success both in terms of generating direct sales and providing nut growing and processing education to the Chinese buyers over the past three years.
