First Ever ¡°California Week¡± in Shanghai

First Ever ¡°California Week¡± in Shanghai

California the ¡°Golden State¡± is coming to the exciting, vibrant Shanghai!

Shanghai ¨C August 30, 2013

The first ever California Week to be organized in China will be held in Shanghai September 18 to 22nd as part of the city wide tourism festival.  Located on Yan Dang Road, Huangpu District, a palm tree lined street in an exclusive retail area of Shanghai, this celebration of the best of California allows Chinese consumers to see, taste and experience California without leaving Shanghai.

Invited by Director Sun Lei of Shanghai¡¯s Agricultural Commission, Secretary of Agriculture for the State of California, Ms. Karen Ross, will lead a trade delegation to Shanghai and will attend the opening ceremony on behalf of the State of California.

Some of the famous California brands joining the event are Jelly Belly, a gourmet candy known for its creative flavors; WonderfulTM from Paramount Farms, bring their high quality, healthy and nutritious pistachios and almonds; a multitude of wines from all over the State and American Apparel, a distinctive California style fashion brand. And Snoopy! This famous cartoon star, together with his friends Charlie Brown and Lucy, is coming to Shanghai for the first time, and will meet the fans at California Week!

California wine is an unknown jewel

California wine is relatively new to China thus has room to grow while educating the market on the potential.  ¡°Most people know about Napa; while the Napa region produced the first California wines to become known globally, one can find incredible quality wines from all over the State.  We want the Chinese wine connoisseurs to learn to appreciate the wines from other California regions such as Sonoma, Central Coast and Lodi as well,¡¯ said Zhang Jing, the Chairwoman of the American Wine Importers Association Shanghai and President of Oak Wine Cellars based in Shanghai.  AWIA will have a large booth and offer seminars for those looking to learn more about California wines.

Shanghai Partnership

The organizers are Orient Pearl Group, a subsidiary of the Shanghai Media and Entertainment Group, working in cultural, tourism and events management and Xanadu Enterprise Shanghai Ltd., a bilingual, bicultural China strategic market entry firm providing a range of consulting and business support services to support companies looking to enter the China market.
