ATO led a group of five wine traders to the Washington State Wine Experience, which resulted in the on-site purchase of two containers of high-value wine by the participants from Shanghai. The event, which lasted from June 4th to 9th, included wine seminars, tasting activities, and tours to wineries/vineyards in the wine appellations. The tour provided a great opportunity for the sixty participants from Asia, Europe, South America, Australia and Canada to experience viticulture and wine quality in Washington State. After the event in Washington State, some traders from Shanghai visited wineries in Oregon and Napa in California, which also generated strong interest in future purchases. While in the states, ATO staff discussed the planning of the upcoming GBI China 2011 program with the Northwest Wine Coalition, the Washington State Wine Commission and the Oregon Wine Board. |
