On February 20, 2010, the State Council's Legislative Office published a draft regulation on feed and feed additives for domestic comments.  The deadline for comments is March 15.  The draft regulation has not been notified to the WTO.  This report contains an UNOFFICIAL translation of the draft regulation.

On November 21, 2009, Beijing-based Origin Agritech became the first company to receive de-regulated status for a corn variety modified using biotechnology for planting in China.  Confirmed by China¡¯s Ministry of Agriculture, Origin¡¯s phytase corn product recently received the final biosafety certificate that permits its domestic sale and marketing.  This ground-breaking authorization may foreshadow a smoother regulatory process for future biotech food crops for planting in China.

On July 20, the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine of the People's Republic of China (AQSIQ) published final Decree 118 related to quarantine inspection for feeds and feed additives. On August 24, AQSIQ published Announcement 372 relating to the implementation of Decree 118. This Decree will go into force on September 1. This report contains an UNOFFICIAL translation of the feed labeling requirements associated with Announcement 372.
